Record eight-time World Champion Nicol David will be competing in squash’s biggest tournament for the last time when she takes to court in Chicago this weekend for the start of the 2018-2019 PSA World Championships presented by the Walter Family.
The 35-year-old Malaysian recently announced that she will retire at the end of the 2018/19 season, but will be hoping to end her association with the World Championships with a ninth, and final, title – in what will be her first time ever competing in a World Championship on American soil.
David is due to begin her campaign against a pre-qualifier on Saturday February 23rd before a likely second round encounter with England’s Millie Tomlinson at Chicago’s iconic Union Station on Sunday February 24.
Tomlinson triumphed when the pair last met, at the Hong Kong Open in November 2018, and a repeat of that encounter would see David’s association with the event – which saw her win eight titles from eight finals between 2005 and 2014 – come to an end.
